About Us
I was 13 years old the first time I saw a Cane Corso. My neighbor at that time breed Game Pitbull and owned a Pitbull/Great Dane mix name Snowcap. Snowcap was sent to be trained by a military vet who trained dogs for personal protection. I was very fond of Snowcap. At the time I thought she was “the best dog ever”. My neighbor knew how much I loved Snowcap and invited me along the day he went to pick her up from training camp. We were in the trainer’s yard, and he was showing my neighbor all the command he had taught Snowcap. I remember being very impressed by what she had retained in just a few months. Although I was amazed by Snowcap’s progression, I remember being distracted by another dog the trainer had in one of his kennels. At first sight I was awed. The dog was huge, very intense and intimidating. Although there were strangers in its yard, it did not bark, it just stood in attention at the gate, regal & majestic as ever, with an almost human look in its eyes. I remember asking “what the hell is that”? The trainer told me it was a Cane Corso. From that very moment I knew that one day I would own a Cane Corso. This was 1991…
My experience and exposure to the Cane Corso so many years ago combined with my recent experience since purchasing my first Cane Corso in 2019 is the reason I decided to become a breeder. The contamination that was brought upon this breed from the time I was a kid until now was disappointing to see. For me the imagine of the Cane Corso I saw as a child will forever be sketched in my memory. That’s why here at Virtuous Corsos it is our purpose to preserve the bloodlines as they were and do our best to improve upon that.
Who We Are
Virtuous Corsos is a family-owned breeder that truly cares about this breed’s genetics. We are dedicated to preserving and improving the Original Cane Corso, and therefore we have purposefully selected Rustic Champion Bloodlines from several breeders as stock for our program. This allows us to produce fewer litters while maintaining the quality and standard of the breed, and at the same time, breed selectively to achieve even better results in structure, health, and temperament.
At Virtuous, our Corsos are family and are treated as such. Their health is important to us and essential to producing quality puppies, so our Cane Corsos receive DNA screening, OFA exams, and yearly vet checkups.
